FEMA Extends Cost Share Eligibility

On March 1, 2022, FEMA announced it has extended the 100 percent federal cost share for eligible COVID-19 expenses until July 1, 2022. Previously, this date was April 1, 2022. With the extension, FEMA will reimburse 100 percent of eligible expenses from January 20, 2020, through July 1, 2022. Eligible clients should continue to track COVID-19 expenses in a way that is easily identifiable. FEMA’s statutory minimum federal cost share is 75 percent. However, the federal cost share has been increased for costs incurred after July 1, 2022, to 90 percent.
July 1, 2022, isn’t the end of the incident period and, as such, there are still no deadlines to submit costs. The incident period is still open-ended and can be ended with 30 days prior notice; however, this announcement makes it very unlikely that it will end before July 1.
