On Friday, October 14, 2016, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a 2,398-page final rule implementing the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) within the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS). MACRA replaces the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate methodology with a payment approach affecting clinicians paid within the MPFS. The MACRA final rule provides greater reporting flexibility with the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System in year one and more clarity on Advanced Alternative Payment Model eligibility criteria.

BKD also will host a webinar in January 2017 to provide a final rule overview and help identify implications and reporting and participation strategies.
