Skilled Nursing Facilities: Let Your Voices Be Heard

SNFs and industry stakeholders should contact CMS by February 28 to comment on minimum staffing requirements.

CMS is poised to issue further guidance on a proposed minimum staffing requirement for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) in spring 2023. It is imperative that SNFs and industry stakeholders submit comments to CMS by February 28, 2023 to provide valuable direct feedback on the upcoming proposal for minimum staffing requirements for SNFs. The American Health Care Association has developed a Contact CMS Action Center Site that allows providers, caregivers, and industry colleagues to respond directly to CMS.

The site gives specific direction as to the content to include in this important correspondence. It will be critical to illustrate the current labor crisis and staffing challenges faced daily. In addition, providers need to clearly state that the additional costs to meet minimum staffing requirements are unsustainable without additional funding. Please do not delay in sharing feedback with key decision makers on the impact this proposal could have on your organization.
