On October 7, 2022, the SEC reopened the comment period until November 1, 2022 for 12 recently issued proposals including environmental, social, and governance, cybersecurity, climate, money market reform, short sales, and special purpose acquisition companies, among others. The SEC must now review any additional comments received before voting on issuing a final rule. Given the new comment period, the mandated SEC review and voting process, and the required Federal Register posting, it is unlikely that any final rules on these proposals will be effective in 2022.
