Becca Kiser, audit manager at FORVIS, a leading national professional services firm, has been named to a two-year appointment in the Government Accounting Standard Board (GASB) Practice Fellow Program.

The GASB is an independent, private-sector organization that establishes accounting and financial reporting standards for U.S. state and local governments that follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Its work provides greater accountability and better-informed decision making through excellence in public-sector financial reporting. As a practice fellow, Kiser will have a distinctive opportunity to participate in the GASB’S national standard-setting process.

“I am honored and grateful to be selected for this opportunity, and I am excited to learn about the GASB process from a different perspective,” Kiser said.

Kiser is based in FORVIS’ Little Rock, Arkansas, office and has worked for the firm since 2017. As an audit manager with the Nonprofit, Education and Public Sector (NEP) practice, she has managed audits of several cities in Arkansas and the surrounding region, presented at trainings for public and nonprofit sector clients across the state and was a member of the team that launched Public Sector Reporting Solution in 2021.

“This is a great opportunity for our clients, firm, the GASB and Becca,” said Lindsey Oakley, national financial reporting partner in the NEP sector with FORVIS. “It provides an opportunity for Becca to be part of the standard-making process and provide that knowledge and background to our clients in the future.”

Practice Fellows are an important resource to the GASB and perform an invaluable role in managing key projects while serving as full-fledged project managers during their tenure. Candidates are nominated by their firms and spend two years working at the GASB Headquarters before returning to their sponsor firm. Kiser is the latest of several FORVIS representatives to the selective program.

Kiser is a 2016 graduate of Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, with a bachelor’s degree of business administration in accounting. She is a member of the Arkansas Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.
