TYSONS, Va. – FORVIS is pleased to welcome Michael Shekel as a managing director with the firm’s forensics and valuation team. Shekel joins the firm with more than 20 years of experience, focused primarily on valuation services.

Prior to joining FORVIS, Shekel led the valuation advisory services for professional M&A and accounting firms with a focus on middle-market business development companies, private-equity funds, and real estate entities. His overall experience includes extensive emphasis on portfolio-companies across many industries, complex financial instruments, leverage debt securities, intangible assets, renewable energy valuations, and fractional ownership interests in real estate deals.

Throughout his career, Michael has gained expertise in the trends, technical issues, and valuations underlying affordable housing and IRC Section 42 - Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC). He has extensive experience in valuing minority and carried ownership interests in upper- and lower-tier real estate funds, holding companies, and partnerships owning, managing, and operating affordable housing/LIHTC properties, including business valuations of LIHTC syndicators, developers, and asset managers.

At FORVIS, Shekel will focus on expanding the firm’s valuation services in the D.C. metro market, serving start-up, middle-market, and mature companies along with private-equity funds and real estate holding entities.

“We are excited to bring Michael’s experience and knowledge to the team,” said Roy Strickland, managing partner for forensics and valuation at FORVIS. “His addition will help us grow FORVIS’ forensics and valuation service line in the dynamic Washington market.”

“FORVIS is well positioned across metro D.C.’s key industries such as government contracts, life science, technology, nonprofit, and real estate, and I’m thrilled to be part of the growth plan vis-à-vis valuation services and expertise,” Shekel said.
