INDIANAPOLIS – The pieces continue falling into place as BKD CPAs & Advisors approaches its 100-year anniversary and the firm solidifies the leadership base that will guide it into another century of success. As Troy Gilstorf prepares to move into the role of East Region managing partner (MP), BKD had another key leadership decision to make for its Indianapolis and Bloomington (INBL) practice. Kevin Pahud will assume the role of MP for INBL, and JoAnna Simek will step into the INBL assistant MP role, both effective June 1, 2021. At BKD, larger offices typically have an assistant MP role. Those selected are high performers who are getting hands-on experience and exposure to the role.

“Kevin and JoAnna have earned this opportunity thanks to their tremendous leadership and professional growth. I look forward to seeing how their skills and passion for excellence will help our firm continue advancing in the years to come,” said CEO-elect Tom Watson.

Pahud is a health care partner in the Indianapolis office who focuses his time working with providers in the senior care space. He quickly distinguished himself as a leader in Upper Payment Limit consulting, helping develop a transaction structure that has transformed the nursing facility industry in Indiana. Throughout Pahud’s career he has been deeply invested in the recruiting and people development aspects of the practice.

Simek has focused on building her expertise with software and technology companies, food processors, distributors and professional services firms. She has demonstrated leadership attributes throughout her career at BKD but most recently as a member of the Chicago BKD Foundation team and BKD’s firmwide SKY Advisory Council.

Watson said, “Kevin is a great example of a partner who has continually found new ways to serve clients, even if it means learning a completely new skill set to meet that need. JoAnna has impressed us with her leadership on various councils and task forces over the past few years and I am confident she will excel in this new leadership role.”

Pahud and Simek will begin transitioning duties over the next few weeks, with Gilstorf assisting based on his prior experience as an MP and assistant MP. Gilstorf said, “I am confident they will continue the legacy of strong leadership in the INBL practice. Their diverse perspectives will help deliver the best decisions for the continued success of the firm.”
