More than 1,400 in-person and virtual participants attended the 2022 National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) Annual Conference in April in Seattle, Washington. Attendees were brought together to learn and connect within the employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) community. The event hosted dozens of informational and engaging sessions throughout the three-day period. Information and discussions on various ESOP topics included communication and education, employee involvement, ESOP feasibility and transactions, ESOP plan design and administration, and many others. The event also hosted several networking opportunities such as meet and greets, a puppy lounge, and drink tastings.

A conference highlight was the keynote address, which Ronald Scheese and Adria Scharf delivered and Tim Garbinsky, NCEO communications director, moderated. Scheese is the current president and CEO of Andesa Services, Inc., an employee-owned provider of policy lifecycle solutions located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Scharf is the director of the Institute for Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing at Rutgers University, which is the largest online library for teaching materials on employee ownership. During the keynote address, the two discussed how company leaders and the entire base of employee-owners can work together for their shared success and the good of their local communities.

This year was the 40th anniversary of the first NCEO conference. To celebrate, one of the luncheons was dedicated to look back over the last four decades to see how much the conference and the employee ownership field have changed.
