Retirement Plan Consulting practice of FORVIS Private Client™ earns fiduciary excellence certification

News Release // 09-09-2023

The Retirement Plan Consulting practice of FORVIS Private Client™ is now certified by the Centre for Fiduciary Excellence (CEFEX), a division of Broadridge Fi360 Solutions (Broadridge).

This certification is only granted by Broadridge to firms that demonstrate adherence to fiduciary best practices, and it signifies conformity to a recognized global standard of fiduciary excellence. The Retirement Plan Consulting team was subject to a rigorous, multimonth audit and certification process guided by the “Prudent Practices® for Investment Advisors,” an industry-recognized handbook that is grounded in law, regulation, and professional best practices.

“We are thrilled to obtain this designation as it provides further proof of our commitment to put clients first,” said Steve Toomey, managing partner and president of FORVIS Wealth Advisors, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of FORVIS, LLP.

“Broadridge is pleased to add FORVIS to an elite group of investment advisors who have demonstrated adherence to professional practices that define a standard of fiduciary excellence,” said Carlos Panksep, general manager at CEFEX. “They have earned the right to use the CEFEX Mark which indicates the firm’s established practices are aligned with investors’ interests and worthy of trust and confidence.”

“Going through the process of acquiring the CEFEX certification took a lot of time and effort from our teams, which speaks volumes about their dedication to the practice,” said Don Larsen, director with FORVIS Private Client. “The fiduciaries that go through this assessment know that their hard work will set them apart from others and work to make sure their practices are trackable. This certification shows that our Retirement Plan Consulting team is focused on quality.”

“This certification proves our commitment to our clients and that their needs and interests will be put first,” said Jason Lunsford, director with FORVIS Private Client. “By adhering to these standards, our investment consulting clients in our Retirement Plan Consulting practice know they can trust us that their investment strategies are being carefully organized, implemented, and monitored.”

The Retirement Plan Consulting practice of FORVIS Private Client provides integrated design, implementation, compliance testing, and investment consulting services to retirement plan sponsors. The practice had approximately 150 investment consulting clients and total assets under advisement of approximately $888 million as of May 31, 2023.

CEFEX certification standards are substantiated by legislation, case law, and regulatory opinion letters from the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Uniform Prudent Investor Act (UPIA), the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA) and the Uniform Management of Public Employee Retirement Systems Act (UMPERSA) in the United States.
